Context
OGF runs several consumer brands, such as PFG and DF, each with its own website. The group wanted customers to be able to choose and personalize engraving products online, on pages that load fast and rank well in search.
My role
I built the platform's front-end in Next.js while also maintaining and optimizing the existing brand websites. I worked with the design team on the customer journey and with the backend team on the APIs, reviewed code with the other developers, and shipped through CI/CD pipelines on Azure DevOps.
Key decisions
- Server-side rendering and static generation, so product pages load fast and are fully indexable by search engines.
- Redux to keep the customization state predictable as customers adjust their options.
- Reusable, typed React components in TypeScript to keep the codebase consistent and easy to extend.
- Code reviews and automated pipelines on Azure DevOps to keep releases safe at the end of each sprint.
Results
The group gained a customizable engraving storefront with fast, SEO-friendly pages. Alongside it, the updates, optimizations and SEO work on the existing brand websites improved their performance in search.
